Editorial feature in Blend magazine, Holland, on London's music video directors
(It's all in Dutch. Luckily I have a friend called Sipke who's from Holland, he's kindly made a translation below)

"In the glamorous 90's, the industry ran on kilo's of coke, whores, private helicopters and multi-million budgets.
In 2009, London's most sucessful music video directors are happy if they can pay the rent each month.
WE spoke with the people behind the camera on the finest clips with the coolest music edge: Danny Sangra, Price James, Nicola Probert, Daniel Brereton and Jaron Albertin."

Makes me happy: funny people,
friends and family, hanging around in London's
parks, going to gigs and exhibitions.
Makes beautiful things through: drawing, videos, documentaries
and animation.
You’ll know off: Ipso Facto’s Six and Three Quarters,
Hatcham Social's So So
Happy Making and The Charlatans’ MISTAKES.
Is at the moment: making a series of short films about the
interaction between
art and music for the Tate Gallery, a documentary about The Charlatans and
work for an exhibition in the summer.
When did you know what you wanted to do when grown up?
I still haven’t decided! Growing up I was really exposed to art - people
in my
family paint, I’d go to exhibitions and I always loved making things,
so I suppose
those things have just combined into what I do now really.
How would you describe your style?
Things can be quite varied. I use layers a lot, and different mediums together.
Using drawing with moving image is quite distinctive of my style.
What was the hardest thing you had to do in your career?
My first ever music video, Hatcham Socials Till The Dawn, was the biggest challenge.
It was my first time on set and I had to take charge of a big team. You know
you
just have a day to get all the shots you need, and everyone is looking to you
for
the answers. Being in that position for the first time was quite daunting. But
as
long as you’re really clear in your head what you want, and what you’re
trying to
achieve, everything falls into place.
What is the most inspiring that has happened to you?
I’ve had the chance to work together with some interesting and successful
people.
I worked with Tim Burgess of The Charlatans for the video for MIS-TAKES, and
recently
I had the opportunity to meet Mark E. Smith and Billy Childish for the Tate
project
on which I’m working.
To what kind of music do you listen yourself?
At the moment I’m listening to The Beach Boys, The Fall, Roxy Music, Fun
Boy Three,
The Smiths, Camera Obscura and Buddy Holly.
